Aerogel Portfolio Selector: Find the Right SKU for Your Project in 60 Seconds

Introducing the WedGel Aerogel Portfolio Selector: Find the Right SKU for Your Project in 60 Seconds

Choosing the right aerogel insulation used to mean trading e-mails for a week. Engineers would ask for a data sheet, we’d send back three, and somewhere between the cryogenic LNG line and the EV battery pad the conversation would stall on a question like “but which exact grade do I quote in my BOQ?”

So we built a tool that answers that question on the spot. Today we’re launching the WedGel Aerogel Portfolio Selector — an interactive product finder that lets specifiers, EPC contractors, OEM buyers, and procurement teams filter our full 29-SKU silica-aerogel range by operating temperature and industry segment, compare specifications side-by-side, copy tender-ready language, and request a quotation, all from a single page on any device.

Why we built it

India’s appetite for high-performance insulation has changed in the last 36 months. Cold-storage developers, LNG terminal builders, refinery contractors, EV cell makers and architects are all asking for the same magic material — aerogel — for different jobs. Pyrogel and Armagel imports have grown, prices have stayed punishing, and lead times from US/EU mills routinely run 14–20 weeks.

WedGel solves that. Manufactured in India, stocked at our Hardoi Hub and Faridabad fabrication facility, and engineered to match every major international competitor SKU at a meaningfully lower landed cost. But with 29 active SKUs across cryogenic, refinery, EV battery, building, additive and refractory families, finding the right grade was the bottleneck. Not anymore.

What the Selector does

The Selector is a free, no-login web app that mirrors the way real engineers shortlist materials. Open it on your phone at site, your laptop in the design office, or your tablet during a tender review. It works the same way everywhere.

1. Filter by operating temperature

Drag a single slider from –200°C up to +1200°C. The product grid filters live to show only the SKUs that cover your service temperature. One-tap presets jump you straight to:

  • Cryogenic (–200°C) — LNG, liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, hydrogen.
  • Ambient (+25°C) — cold-chain, building envelopes, HVAC.
  • Mid heat (+400°C) — hot-oil loops, chemical reactor jackets.
  • High temperature (+650°C) — steam mains, refinery hot piping, furnace shells.
  • Refractory (+1000°C and above) — furnace backings, kiln liners, fire barriers.

2. Filter by industry segment

One click and the grid narrows to the products engineered for your sector:

  • EV Batteries & BESS — 6 SKUs including the WT-EV-650 thermal-runaway pad and CAC350 carbon-aerogel composite.
  • Oil, Gas & Petrochemical — 8 SKUs led by Wedgel 650, the direct Pyrogel XTE replacement.
  • Cryogenics & LNG — 7 SKUs including the IMO Wheelmark-certified CW-125A-M for marine vessels.
  • Building Envelopes & HVAC — 4 SKUs from BL20 thermal blanket to BL50 fire-rated wrap.
  • Refractories & Metallurgy — 2 SKUs including the RP1000 rigid panel up to +1000°C.
  • Formulations & Additives — 3 powder & granule SKUs for paint, coating, gypsum, and cavity-wall infill.

3. Compare up to 3 SKUs side-by-side

Tick the “Compare” box on any product card — up to three at a time — and open the Spec Comparator. You get a single table showing thermal conductivity (k-value), density, temperature range, facing options, applicable standards and typical applications. Perfect for design reviews when you need to defend a substitution to a client or consultant.

4. Copy tender-ready specification text

Every product card has a “Copy Spec” button that copies a ready-to-paste tender clause to your clipboard — written in the exact format procurement officers expect, with the right ASTM, EN, GB/T and IEC citations baked in. Drop it straight into your BOQ, your RFQ response, or your technical schedule.

5. One-click PDF download

Need to email a spec to a client? Hit “Download PDF” on any product card and you get a clean, Wedge-branded one-pager with full technical data — ready to share, archive or attach to an enquiry.

Who the Selector is for

If any of these describes you, the Selector saves you a week of back-and-forth:

  • EPC engineers writing technical schedules for refinery, petrochemical, LNG and power projects.
  • Cold-storage developers and consultants sizing wall and roof build-ups for ultra-low energy facilities.
  • EV cell makers and pack assemblers evaluating thermal-runaway barriers for new platforms.
  • Architects and facade consultants targeting IGBC, GRIHA or LEED credits with thin building insulation.
  • Procurement and category managers validating Pyrogel / Armagel substitutions with cost-equivalent local alternatives.
  • Distributors and channel partners in the Gulf, South-East Asia and Africa shortlisting SKUs for client RFQs.

What happens after you find your SKU

Every product card carries two CTAs — Copy Spec and Request a Quotation. Once you hit Quote, our technical sales team responds within one working day with:

  1. The full Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Material Test Certificate (MTC) format for the SKU.
  2. Confirmed ex-Faridabad price in INR and USD, plus FOB Nhava Sheva price for export enquiries.
  3. Lead time from stock (Hardoi Hub) or production (10–15 days from China origin for non-stock SKUs).
  4. An installation method statement if the enquiry is full-scope supply-and-install.

For project enquiries above 500 sqm, you also get a free thermal calculation and BOQ — we’ll size the thickness against your service temperature, ambient conditions and surface area, and compare the annual energy loss against mineral wool of the same thickness.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Selector free to use?

Yes, completely free. No login, no e-mail wall, no download required.

Does it work on a mobile phone?

Yes — the entire Selector is built mobile-first. Use it at a site visit, in a meeting, or on the factory floor.

Can I download a PDF specification for any SKU?

Yes. Every product card has a one-click PDF download with full technical data, on Wedge letterhead.

Will WedGel meet the same standards as Pyrogel or Armagel?

Every WedGel SKU is engineered to ASTM C1728, the same standard governing Pyrogel and Armagel. Specific grades additionally carry ASTM C177, C795, C1617, EN 13501-1, UL 94 V-0, IMO 2010 FTP, UL 1709 and others — visible on each product card.

What if my temperature doesn’t match any single SKU?

Use the Spec Comparator to evaluate hybrid build-ups, or write to our engineers — multi-layer 25 mm assemblies are a regular part of our Faridabad fabrication.
