Sound Proof Sheets & Acoustic Insulation for Walls, Doors and Machinery
Wedge Industries Limited supplies sound proof sheets and acoustic insulation that block and absorb noise — mass loaded vinyl (MLV), PET acoustic panels, high-density rock wool, aerogel-covered mineral wool and soundproof door cores. Composite systems up to Rw 65 dB, absorption up to NRC 1.0, fire-rated options, from ₹285.

What are sound proof sheets?
Sound proof sheets are dense, flexible or rigid layers — typically mass loaded vinyl, rubber or composite boards — fixed to walls, ceilings, floors, doors and machine enclosures to stop noise passing through them. They work by adding mass and breaking vibration paths. Acoustic insulation such as PET panels and rock wool does a different job: it absorbs sound inside a room or cavity so echo and reverberation drop. Most real noise problems need both — a dense barrier to block, and acoustic insulation to absorb.

Sound proof sheets and acoustic insulation products
Mass loaded vinyl (MLV) barrier
Dense, limp barrier that adds mass without thickness. Rolls and sheets for walls, ceilings, ducts and genset enclosures; up to Rw 65 dB in composite systems.
PET acoustic panels
Recycled polyester fibre, NRC 0.70–1.00, 9–50 mm, 1200 × 600 and 2400 × 1200 mm. Coloured, printable, CNC-cut; no fibre shedding. Class A/B options.
Polyester fibre acoustic boards
Wall panels, ceiling baffles and clouds for offices, studios, schools, auditoriums and restaurants; 125–4000 Hz absorption.
Rock wool / mineral wool pads
30–200 kg/m³, NRC 0.85–1.0, non-combustible Class A1, λ 0.033–0.045 W/m·K. The standard cavity infill for acoustic walls, ceilings and enclosures.
Aerogel covered mineral wool (WedGelRock)
Aerogel layer (0.0216–0.029 W/m·K) bonded to a mineral wool core: sound absorption plus 30–40% lower heat loss than plain mineral wool. From ₹1,750.
Soundproof door materials
Acoustic door cores built from MLV, rock wool and board layers with perimeter seals, for studios, hotels, hospitals, DG rooms and conference rooms. Fire-rated doors also available.

Values are from Wedge product data sheets. The final dB rating depends on the whole assembly — studs, board layers, cavity fill and seals — not the sheet alone.

How to choose a soundproofing build-up
Stop noise coming through a wall
Use an MLV barrier between two board layers, with rock wool in the cavity and sealed edges. This is the standard build for homes near roads, hotel rooms and offices.
Cut echo inside a room
Fix PET acoustic panels or polyester fibre boards on 20–30% of wall and ceiling area. Right for offices, conference rooms, classrooms, restaurants and home theatres.
Quiet a generator or machine
Line the enclosure with rock wool or aerogel covered mineral wool, add an MLV barrier and a soundproof door. Heat-resistant layers matter near engines and exhausts.
Where soundproofing is used
- Homes and apartments beside highways, metro lines and airports — walls, windows (soundproof windows) and floors.
- Hotels, hospitals and banquet halls — room-to-room separation and DG set rooms.
- Studios, home theatres and auditoriums — isolation plus absorption.
- Offices and conference rooms — speech privacy and acoustic ceilings.
- Factories, compressor and DG rooms — enclosures and noise barriers to meet CPCB noise limits.
- Data centers and plant rooms — see data center insulation.

Sound proof sheets FAQs
What is the best sound proof sheet for walls?
Mass loaded vinyl (MLV) is the most effective thin barrier for walls because it adds mass without thickness. Fixed between two board layers with rock wool in the cavity and sealed edges, the assembly reaches up to Rw 65 dB.
What is the difference between sound proofing and acoustic insulation?
Sound proofing blocks noise from passing through walls, floors and doors using dense sheets such as MLV. Acoustic insulation absorbs sound inside a room or cavity using porous materials such as PET panels and rock wool (NRC 0.70–1.0). Most projects need both.
What is the price of sound proof sheets in India?
The WedgeSPS 1.2 AeroCore sheet starts from ₹285 and the aerogel covered mineral wool panel from ₹1,750. MLV, PET panels, rock wool and door assemblies are quoted by area and thickness; send your requirement for a priced offer in 24 hours.
Are PET acoustic panels fire resistant?
PET acoustic panels are available in Class A and Class B fire-rated options. For fully non-combustible absorption, use rock wool (Class A1) or aerogel covered mineral wool.
What is aerogel covered mineral wool used for?
It combines a mineral wool core for sound absorption with an aerogel layer that cuts heat loss by 30–40% compared with plain mineral wool. It suits generator enclosures, hot pipework and equipment that needs noise and heat control in one thin panel.
What materials go into a soundproof door?
A soundproof door combines dense barrier layers such as MLV, a rock wool core, board facings and airtight perimeter and drop seals. Fire-rated versions add fire door boards and intumescent seals.
