Vacuum Insulated Panels (VIP) Manufacturer & Supplier in India
WedgeVac vacuum insulated panels give the lowest thermal conductivity of any commercial insulation — down to 0.0019 W/m·K — so a 20 mm panel does the work of 100–240 mm of PU foam. Wedge Industries Limited supplies VIPs in four catalogue grades plus STFS, cut to size from 4 to 50 mm thick, for cold boxes, refrigeration, cold rooms, building façades and transport.

What are vacuum insulated panels?
A vacuum insulated panel is a rigid microporous core — fumed silica with an infrared opacifier — sealed under vacuum inside a high gas-barrier film. Removing the air removes almost all gas conduction and convection, so heat can only creep through the solid core and the film. The result is a thermal conductivity 5–12 times lower than PU foam, EPS or mineral wool, and the thinnest possible wall for a given R-value.
WedgeVac vacuum insulated panels are supplied as ready-to-use, fixed-size boards. They are lightweight, contain no respirable fibres and keep their performance for 45–60 years when protected from puncture. That is why vacuum insulated panels are specified wherever wall thickness costs money: payload volume in a cold box, cargo space in a reefer, carpet area in a building, or cabinet volume in a refrigerator.

FSKW suits deep-frozen and dry-ice duty; STFG is the choice when every millimetre counts; VQFS covers the widest range up to +100 °C for appliances and water boilers. Full grade data is in the WedgeVac catalogue.
Vacuum insulated panels vs conventional insulation
Thickness of conventional insulation needed to match a 20 mm WedgeVac panel, calculated from λ at 10 °C (PU foam 0.023 W/m·K, EPS / mineral wool 0.035 W/m·K):
| 20 mm WedgeVac grade | λ (W/m·K) | Equal PU foam | Equal EPS / mineral wool |
|---|---|---|---|
| FSKW / PSV | 0.0045 | ≈ 102 mm | ≈ 156 mm |
| STFS | 0.0044 | ≈ 105 mm | ≈ 159 mm |
| VQFS | 0.0035 | ≈ 131 mm | ≈ 200 mm |
| STFG | 0.0019 | ≈ 242 mm | ≈ 368 mm |
In a cold box that means more payload in the same external size; in a building it means more usable floor area behind the same wall line. The catalogue rates a 20 mm panel at R 4.8 m²·K/W — 5–10× conventional foam.

VIP cold boxes for vaccine, medicine and frozen food
Cold-chain packaging is the largest use of vacuum insulated panels in India. We fit six WedgeVac panels as a liner inside a PP hollow-board carton, an EPP shell or a panel-only box, and pair them with PCM coolants for 2–8 °C holds of 70–120 hours. See the full range and 14 standard sizes on the insulated box page.

Applications
- Thermal and medicine cold-chain packaging: VIP insulated boxes, VIP cold box and dry-ice shippers.
- Cold rooms and cold storage: thin-wall walls, doors and floors — see VIP for ice-cream cold storage and prefab cold storage.
- Refrigerators, freezers and white goods: domestic and commercial cabinets, vacuum flasks, water boilers.
- Building envelope: façades, walls, floors, roofs, doors and windows where a thin build-up helps meet BEE energy-conservation targets.
- Transport: reefer trucks, rail, marine and aerospace cabins where every millimetre is cargo or passenger space.
- Tanks and precision equipment: VIP water tank cover, data centre and EV battery thermal zones.
Design rules for vacuum insulated panels
- Made to size, never cut on site. A VIP cannot be cut, drilled or nailed — piercing the film releases the vacuum. Send a panel layout and we manufacture each panel to size.
- Protect the film. Specify a PU, fibreglass-cloth or board facing, or sandwich the panel between rigid skins, wherever it can be knocked or screwed through.
- Design the joints. Panel edges are the thermal weak point; stagger two layers or fill joints with PU or aerogel strip on critical duties.
- Check temperature and fire duty. Match the grade to the minimum and maximum surface temperature; the fumed-silica core is Class A1 non-combustible.
Why buy vacuum insulated panels from Wedge Industries Limited
- Five grades from one supplier: from −100 °C deep-frozen duty to +100 °C appliance duty, and λ from 0.0045 down to 0.0019 W/m·K.
- Box and panel under one roof: we build the VIP cold boxes ourselves, so panel sizing, joints and coolant packout are engineered together.
- Thermal calculation with every quote: heat-loss and hold-time figures in writing, not a brochure number.
- India and export supply: delivered across India and to 45+ countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait.

Vacuum insulated panel FAQs
What is the thermal conductivity of vacuum insulated panels?
WedgeVac panels measure 0.0019 to 0.0045 W/m·K at 10 °C depending on grade: STFG 0.0019, VQFS 0.0035, STFS 0.0044, FSKW and PSV 0.0045. Conventional PU foam is about 0.023 W/m·K.
Can vacuum insulated panels be cut to size on site?
No. Cutting or piercing the barrier film lets air in and the panel loses most of its insulating value. Each panel is manufactured to the size you specify, so send a layout drawing with your enquiry.
How long does a vacuum insulated panel last?
The catalogue service life is 45 years, and up to 60 years in a protected installation where the film cannot be damaged. Performance ageing is slow because the fumed-silica core stays effective even at slightly raised internal pressure.
Are vacuum insulated panels fire-safe?
The fumed-silica core is fire class A1 non-combustible. The barrier film and any facing are combustible in small quantities, so building applications should be enclosed in a non-combustible build-up.
What thickness of VIP do I need for a cold box?
Most 2–8 °C pharma boxes use 20–30 mm panels. The exact thickness depends on hold time, payload and ambient profile; we calculate it with the PCM coolant packout and quote the box or the panel kit.
What is the price of vacuum insulated panels in India?
WedgeVac panels start at ₹285 per sq ft ($2.97) for the standard grade with a core up to 10 mm, and each extra mm of core adds ₹15 per sq ft. Examples: 600 × 300 × 10 mm ₹552 per panel, 600 × 600 × 25 mm ₹1,976 per panel, 1000 × 600 × 30 mm ₹5,532 per panel. Panels with any side over 600 mm carry a size premium. Fumed-silica grades and facings are quoted on request; send your panel list for a firm quotation within 24 hours.
