Overview
Wedge ceramic fibre tape (AlSi HTI series) is a flexible, non-combustible tape of alumino-silicate ceramic fibre for fire sealing and high-temperature insulation. It is made in three grades — HTI 1050, HTI 1265 and HTI 1450 — and in a very wide size range, from narrow 5 mm sealing strips to 1,000 mm wide strips, 2 to 50 mm thick, in 12–20 m rolls. Assemblies sealed with it are rated for fire protection up to 240 minutes.
The tape is wound with a release liner, as in the photo, for fast fixing to frames, flanges and pipework. Its main uses are fire sealing of glass, steel and wooden doors, and wrapping flanges, pipes and joints that run hot. Where plain tape has to be bonded to steel or board at temperature, fix it with Wedge ceramic blanket adhesive (to 1,000 °C) or HTAL1600 refractory adhesive (to 1,600–1,700 °C).

How to install ceramic fibre tape
- Clean the frame, flange or pipe surface of oil, dust and loose scale.
- Cut the tape to length with a knife; peel back the release liner as you go.
- Press the tape firmly into position with butt joints tight; overlap spiral wraps on pipes.
- Where the bond itself will run hot, back up the fixing with high temperature adhesive or mechanical clips.
