Flexible Mica Sheet — WedgeMICA Muscovite & Phlogopite, 0.15–5 mm, to 600 °C

Overview

A flexible mica sheet is mica paper bonded with a silicone resin that stays pliable after curing, so it can be wrapped around coils, laid into slots and formed into channels without cracking. WedgeMICA flexible sheets give the dielectric strength and heat resistance of mica in a format that installs like a sheet insulation paper.

Two grades are offered: WMF-M500 muscovite, rated below 500 °C, and WMF-P600 phlogopite, rated below 600 °C, in thicknesses from 0.15 mm to 5 mm.

Composition (MSDS): mica ≥ 88 % with ≤ 12 % cured silicone resin; not flammable; colour cream (muscovite) or brown (phlogopite); insoluble in water.

Installation

• Cut with shears or a knife, or have parts stamped to drawing.
• Form around the part at room temperature; avoid sharp folds.
• Wear gloves and a dust mask when cutting; collect dust with local exhaust.
• Ventilate during the first heat-up above about 300 °C.
