Overview
A mica heater plate is a thin, rigid mica sheet that carries and insulates the resistance wire or ribbon in a heating element. WedgeMICA heater plates are pressed from the same mica papers as the WedgeMICA rigid boards, bonded with silicone resin, in thicknesses from 0.15 mm to 1.5 mm. They keep their electrical insulation at element temperatures far above the limit of organic laminates.
Three grades match the element temperature: muscovite WMH-M550 below 550 °C, phlogopite WMH-P800 below 800 °C and synthetic WMH-S1100 below 1100 °C. Plates are supplied as full sheets or stamped into element supports, frames and wound-element cards.

Handling and installation
- Handle sheets with gloves to avoid edge cuts; lift large sheets with support to prevent bending or cracking.
- Stamp or cut with sharp tools; collect dust with local exhaust and avoid dry compressed-air cleaning.
- Ventilate during the first heat-up of a new element above about 300 °C, when a little binder may burn off as light smoke.
- Do not run a plate above the rated continuous temperature of its grade.
