Overview

The Wedge cement XPS sandwich panel is a symmetrical five-layer board: a waterproof calcium silicate cement mortar over alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh on both faces of a closed-cell Wedge CCXP extruded polystyrene core, factory-bonded so the facing cannot delaminate. It is supplied in the thicker 25–100 mm range on the higher-density CCXP 45, 60 and 70 cores for structural-grade insulation duty.

Fixed to cold-formed steel studs, a 30–50 mm panel provides insulation, rigid sheathing and a render or tile face in one operation — cutting prefab panel weight and factory assembly time. On masonry it is a cavity-wall or façade insulation layer that accepts render or adhesive-fixed cladding directly. Under a screed or cold-store wearing slab the CCXP 60/70 core carries the floor load.

The panel is the same product family as the CSC XPS 250 calcium silicate XPS sandwich panel; this page covers the wall, floor and prefab specification. For roofs see the XPS roof insulation board, and for bathrooms and kitchens the thinner tile backer board.

Cement XPS Sandwich Panel price

Cement XPS sandwich panels are priced per m² by thickness and core grade, with cut-to-size panels for prefab lines quoted per project. Pricing is on application — send the panel schedule or the wall, floor and cold-store areas with the thermal target and load case, and Wedge Industries Limited returns a board and ancillary schedule with a firm price in ₹ INR and $ USD.

Minimum order is one pallet within India and one 20′ GP container for export: indicatively 860 m² at 30 mm, 520 m² at 50 mm or 260 m² at 100 mm per 20′ GP; 2,000 / 1,200 / 600 m² in a 40′ HQ. Board weight does not limit loading.

Applications

  • Prefab, LGSF and modular housing — 30–50 mm panel screw-fixed to cold-formed steel studs as insulation, sheathing and render or tile substrate in one; also site-office cabins, bathroom pods and portable buildings.
  • External façade and cavity-wall insulation — 25–50 mm on masonry under polymer-modified render or adhesive-fixed cladding; also as the insulated backing board in ventilated façade systems.
  • Cold storage — 50–100 mm CCXP 60/70 floors under the wearing slab and 50 mm wall linings in chilled and frozen rooms; Sd 3.2 m and ≤0.7 % absorption keep the insulation dry on the warm side.
  • Floors under screed — 25–50 mm insulation board in residential, hotel and healthcare projects; CCXP 70 with a ≥65 mm load-distributing screed for racking, machinery and forklift traffic.
  • Cold-room and partition walls in lightweight construction; internal wall insulation in masonry buildings.
  • Export projects — Gulf villa and labour-camp prefab programmes, African and South Asian housing schemes; mixed-thickness containers shipped EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP.

Installation

  • Stud / LGSF — fix through the panel into cold-formed steel or timber studs with corrosion-resistant screws and 35 mm washers at 300 mm centres; stagger panel joints; tape every joint with 100 mm alkali-resistant mesh bedded in adhesive.
  • Masonry — fix with adhesive dabs plus five anchors per m², or a full adhesive bed where the wall is flat to 3 mm in 2 m.
  • Render or cladding — apply a polymer-modified base-coat render with embedded alkali-resistant mesh over the full face and joints before the finishing render or cladding adhesive; provide movement joints at not more than 6 m centres and at all structural movement joints.
  • Floors and cold stores — lay boards tightly butted in a staggered bond on a flat slab or membrane; for point loads above 300 kPa use the CCXP 60 or 70 core and a load-distributing screed of not less than 65 mm.
  • Cut with a trimming knife against a straight edge, scoring both faces — no power tools or dust extraction. Do not use solvent-based adhesives or primers on the core; do not leave panels exposed to sunlight for more than seven days before covering.

Frequently asked questions

What is a cement XPS sandwich panel?

It is an extruded polystyrene insulation core with a cement mortar facing bonded over fibreglass mesh on both sides, forming a rigid sandwich. Wedge panels use a calcium silicate cement facing on a CCXP 45 to 70 core, giving insulation, rigid sheathing and a render- or tile-ready surface in one 25 to 100 mm board.

Can the panel be used as sheathing on LGSF prefab walls?

Yes. A 30 to 50 mm panel screw-fixed to cold-formed steel studs at 300 mm centres provides insulation, rigid sheathing and the substrate for render or tiles in one operation. A polymer-modified base coat with embedded alkali-resistant mesh is applied over the face and joints before the finish.

Which thickness do I need for a wall or cold store?

Typical selections are 25 to 50 mm for external façade and cavity-wall insulation, 30 to 50 mm for prefab and LGSF panels, and 50 to 100 mm for cold-store floors and walls. Declared R-value of the core is 0.88 m²·K/W at 25 mm, 1.47 at 50 mm and 2.94 at 100 mm; Wedge provides U-value calculations for the complete build-up.

What load can a cement XPS panel carry on a floor?

Compressive strength at 10 % deflection is 450 kPa on a CCXP 45 core, 600 kPa on CCXP 60 and 700 kPa on CCXP 70. For point loads above 300 kPa such as racking, machinery or forklift traffic, specify CCXP 60 or 70 with a load-distributing screed of at least 65 mm.

Is the panel fire rated?

The composite board is classified Class E to EN 13501-1 and the cement facing protects the core; additional fire-retardant additives are available on request. The fire resistance of a complete wall assembly depends on the full build-up and must be assessed against the applicable building code.

What are the export terms?

Minimum export order is one 20-foot container with mixed thicknesses and grades accepted, shipped EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP with invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, MTC and fumigation certificate. The indicative HS code is 3921.11. Wedge ships to 45 countries across the Gulf, Europe, Africa, South and South East Asia and North America.
