Overview

Mixed-material insulation systems — a microporous panel behind a calcium silicate board, a perlite board inside a steel casing, a ceramic fibre hot face over a backup layer — need a high temperature adhesive for insulation boards that is compatible with all of them. Wedge HTAL1000 was developed for economical processing of insulation materials and lightweight construction systems, and its data sheet names low- and high-density calcium silicate, microporous insulation, perlite boards, ceramic fibre and insulation on steel as applications.

It is inorganic, asbestos-free and incombustible, adheres to almost all foundations, and does not damage steel. Choose the paste for trowel work and vertical faces or the fluid for roller lamination; switch to HTAL1600 where a board’s hot face runs above 1,000 °C.

Applications

  • Multi-layer furnace, kiln and ladle linings combining microporous, calcium silicate and ceramic fibre boards.
  • EV battery and BESS enclosures, data-centre and fire-rated cabinet linings using microporous or calcium silicate boards.
  • Ovens, stoves, fireplaces, boilers and dryers built with perlite or vermiculite boards.
  • Glass, aluminium and steel plant equipment backup insulation.
  • Fire-protection board assemblies where glue lines must be incombustible.

How to apply

  1. Process at 5–40 °C; boards dry and dust-free, steel free of oil and loose scale.
  2. Paste: notched trowel, one face. Fluid: roller, even film.
  3. Join and press; support parts until set (8 h paste, 1 h fluid).
  4. Harden 24 h (paste) / 8 h (fluid); full hardness after one week before heat-up.
  5. Store unopened buckets frost-free for up to 6 months.

Frequently asked questions

Which high temperature adhesive works for insulation boards?

Wedge HTAL1000 is an inorganic, asbestos-free adhesive rated to 1,000 degrees Celsius whose data sheet lists low- and high-density calcium silicate, microporous insulation, perlite boards, ceramic fibre and insulation on steel. For hot faces above 1,000 degrees Celsius use HTAL1600.

Can one adhesive bond different insulation boards together?

Yes. HTAL1000 adheres to almost all foundations, so microporous, calcium silicate, perlite and ceramic fibre boards can be bonded to each other and to steel with the same glue, provided the joint stays within 1,000 degrees Celsius.

Is the adhesive suitable for microporous insulation?

Yes. Microporous insulation bonding is listed on the HTAL1000 data sheet. Apply a thin layer so the glue line does not add unnecessary thermal bridging.

What are the setting and hardening times?

Paste WK 84 sets in 8 hours and hardens in 24 hours; fluid WK 84/16 sets in 1 hour and hardens in 8 hours. Both reach full hardness after one week.

Does it contain asbestos or organic binders?

No. HTAL1000 is inorganic and asbestos-free, incombustible and smoke-free on heat-up.

What is the price of high temperature adhesive for insulation boards?

Wedge Industries Limited sells high temperature adhesive for insulation boards at INR 485 per kg (about USD 5.50 per kg) with a minimum order quantity of 200 kg, so a 200 kg order is INR 97,000. Orders below 200 kg are quoted on request. Send the quantity and delivery city or port on WhatsApp +91 97175 06848 or through Get Price.
