Overview

Wedge MXPS is the interior grade of the CSC XPS board family. A polymer-modified cement mortar is applied over an alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh on both faces of a Wedge CCXP extruded polystyrene core and factory-cured, so the facing cannot delaminate in service and the panel is equally rigid in both directions.

The polymer cement facing gives a rough, cement-like key that bonds to any cementitious tile adhesive to EN 12004, while the closed-cell core keeps water out of the wall or floor build-up. It is the right choice for bathrooms, showers, kitchens, spas and pool surrounds where the board is fully covered by tiles and a lower-cost facing than calcium silicate cement is acceptable.

Where the board will be left partly exposed, carry heavy floor loads or be used on roofs, façades or prefab panels, specify the calcium silicate cement coated grade (CSC XPS 250) instead.

Polymer Cement Coated XPS Board price

MXPS polymer cement coated XPS board is the economical grade of the range and is priced per board by thickness and core grade. Pricing is on application — send the wall or floor area and thickness for a firm quotation in ₹ INR and $ USD, delivered to site or ex-works Faridabad.

Minimum order is one pallet within India and one 20′ GP container for export (indicatively 2,600 m² at 10 mm, 1,300 m² at 20 mm, 520 m² at 50 mm). Mixed-thickness and mixed-grade containers are accepted.

Applications

  • Bathroom, shower and wet-room walls — waterproof tile substrate on masonry or studs (6, 10, 12 mm).
  • Kitchen backsplashes, counters and vanity units (6, 10 mm).
  • Floor tile backer over concrete or screed where the board is fully tiled (6, 10, 20 mm, CCXP 36–45).
  • Pool, spa and sauna cladding substrate — unaffected by continuous humidity (10, 12, 20 mm).
  • Bathroom pods, prefab washrooms and hotel refurbishment programmes where weight and speed matter.
  • Lining behind decorative wall finishes in humid interiors — the very low vapour permeability of the core protects the wall.

Typical build-up — tiled shower wall on masonry

5. Masonry or plastered wallSound, dry, primed if porous

Installation

  • Substrate must be sound, clean, dry and flat to 3 mm in 2 m; prime porous substrates.
  • Score both faces with a trimming knife against a straight edge and snap — no power tools or dust extraction needed.
  • Bed the board in flexible C2 cementitious tile adhesive applied with a 6–8 mm notched trowel, or fix to studs with corrosion-resistant screws and 35 mm washers at 300 mm centres.
  • Tape every joint with 100 mm alkali-resistant mesh tape bedded in adhesive; seal internal corners, perimeters and penetrations with flexible sealant.
  • Tile directly onto the facing with the same C2 adhesive; use epoxy or cement-polymer grout in wet areas.
  • Do not use solvent-based adhesives or primers on the core; seal exposed cut edges in wet areas; do not expose the board to temperatures above 80 °C.

Sizes, thickness and packing

Standard boards: 1200 × 600 mm and 2440 × 1220 mm in 6, 10, 12, 20, 25, 30 and 50 mm; nominal weight 1.5 kg/m² at 6 mm rising to 12.5 kg/m² at 50 mm. Cut-to-size on request.

Frequently asked questions

What is a polymer cement coated XPS board?

It is an extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam board with a polymer-modified cement mortar facing bonded over fibreglass mesh on both sides. The XPS core insulates and keeps water out; the cement facing gives a rigid surface that tile adhesive bonds to directly. Wedge sells this grade as MXPS.

What is the difference between MXPS and CSC XPS 250?

Both are made on the same Wedge CCXP core. MXPS has a polymer-mortar facing and is the economical interior tile backer. CSC XPS 250 has a calcium silicate cement facing and is the premium fire-retardant grade for roofs, external walls, prefab panels, cold stores and heavy-duty floors.

Can polymer cement coated XPS board be used on floors?

Yes, as a tile backer over concrete or screed where the board is fully tiled. Specify a CCXP 36 or CCXP 45 core (350 to 450 kPa) for floors and bed the board in a full adhesive bed. For point loads above 300 kPa or for roofs, use CSC XPS 250 on a CCXP 60 or 70 core.

Is MXPS board waterproof?

The closed-cell XPS core absorbs 0.7 % or less water by volume in long-term immersion and the polymer cement facing resists moisture. With joints taped and perimeters sealed the board acts as the waterproof layer behind tiles in showers, kitchens and wet rooms.

What thicknesses and sizes are available?

MXPS is supplied from 6 to 50 mm thick in 600 or 1220 mm widths and 1200 or 2440 mm lengths, with cut-to-size boards available to order. Thickness tolerance is ±1.0 mm up to 30 mm and ±1.5 mm above.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

One pallet for supply within India; one 20-foot container for export with mixed thicknesses accepted. Standard formats ship from stock and project or cut-to-size quantities take three to four weeks ex-works.
