Overview
Calcium silicate board adhesive has to survive the same heat as the board, stay chemically compatible with a mineral substrate and not corrode the steel the board is fixed to. Wedge HTAL1000 is specified for exactly this: its data sheet lists bonding of low-density and high-density calcium silicate boards as the first application, with a classification temperature of 1,000 °C.
Use it to laminate thinner calcium silicate boards into thick backup linings, to glue boards to furnace and vessel casings, to bond fire-protection board systems, and to close joints between boards so hot gas cannot bypass the insulation. How to bond calcium silicate boards
- Calcium silicate is absorbent — brush off dust and make sure boards are dry; prime very dusty cut edges with a thin first coat.
- Apply the paste with a notched trowel (or the fluid grade by roller) to one face.
- Press the boards together or onto the steel and support until set (8 h paste / 1 h fluid).
- Wait 24 h (paste) or 8 h (fluid) before machining or handling, and one week before first heat-up.
- Work at 5–40 °C and store buckets frost-free.
